The Actors Lab 1: Classic Techniques

This is THE class that EVERY actor needs! Ready for a renewed commitment and understanding of the history of your craft? This 12 week course will take actors further in their knowledge, skills, tools, and education. Designed to help actors shape their pursuits, passions and possibilities by introducing you to the foundational tools and techniques of our trade. Together, we'll break down the most influential traditional acting techniques from the last 100 years, giving actors a full overview of the craft, how it has shifted and changed and what tools are available through each of these incredible approaches. Over the course of the Lab, you'll work with various members of our coaching team as they take you through "experiments" with the most esteemed techniques based on the system that shaped modern acting training. This class covers: History of Acting & Stanislavsky's System Lee Strasberg's Method Meisner Technique Stella Adler Technique Uta Hagen Technique Michael Chekhov Technique If you've ever wondered what these techniques entailed or if any of them might be useful to your work, this class was designed to answer that question! Through partnered scene work, exercises, and application, we'll examine what each of these celebrated approaches brings to the table - how they differ and how they align - and ultimately how each of them was designed with the same goal in mind: authenticity in acting. Join us for a Lab like no other! IMPORTANT INFO: - A first month's fee of $160 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot. - REGISTER EARLY! This class begins Sept 3, so please register by no later than Aug 31 to avoid a 15% late fee. - This class is paid for in monthly installments of $160 that will be automatically withdrawn. - Your initial deposit will be credited toward your first month of class - Class information, scenes and partners will be assigned in the first class. - Class begins Sept 3 and runs every Wednesday night from 6:30-9:30pm through Nov 19. *makeup classes may be available but are not guaranteed and will depend on coaches' availability Your Coaches for this Course Will Be: Erin Bethea, Jonathan Lee Taylor, and Amey Richards.
