Description
SPEAK THE SPEECH, I PRAY YOU (AND DEAR GOD, DO IT WELL) Preparing A Master Actor is an intensive 4-week course designed to provide you with the necessary tools needed to properly handle large bodies of text - whether that be a speech, monologue, or a prolonged scene. The Master Actor finds the melody, rhythm, dynamics, and texture needed for an impactful performance by using the proper tools necessary to execute that performance with undeniable results. Proper use of these tools have proven to be effective in crafting some of the most memorable performances we know today: America Ferrera as Gloria in BARBIE Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss in OPPENHEIMER Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS Jeff Daniels as Will McAvoy in NEWSROOM Sean Astin as Samwise Gamgee in THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS Jodie Turner Smith as Queen in QUEEN & SLIM Denzel Washington AND Frances MacDormand in THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH No matter what the genre, the list goes ON and ON and ON… Things to expect from this class: - A foundational toolkit into deciphering heightened text (specifically verse) - How to paint with words and make monologues sing - The power of the breath as fuel in Shakespearean line structure (and beyond) - Understanding how to marry our sense of naturalism (as American-trained, contemporary actors) with the demands of highly-structured, heightened text. “Shakespeare holds the key to a secret well within our craft. An undeniable foundational pillar that will support ALL other acting work we pursue hereafter. That is what this work will reveal to you. THAT is what will build you up to be the master actor you dream to be.” - Instructor Warren Levi Haney *This course (or other applicable training certified by the instructor) must be taken in order to sign up for the Making A Master Actor scene study class. Go, make you ready…
