Greenlight is thrilled to have the opportunity to workshop an original play from Atlanta-based playwright John David Brown. Play Synopsis: How honest are we allowed to be after someone has died—honest about the deceased, and honest about ourselves? This is the question a variety of characters grapple with while attending six funeral services in "The Songs We Sing at Funerals", a dark comedy with a big heart. John David Brown is a playwright based in Atlanta, GA. A native of the Florida Panhandle, he has worked with theaters, schools, and community organizations across the region as a writer, director, actor, and theater educator. Additionally, his work has been performed by the John DeSotelle Studio and Secret Theatre in New York City, the Weathervane Playhouse in Ohio, Scriptwriters and Co in the UK, and the Theatrical Shenanigans Podcast. This advanced scene study course is designed for experienced actors only. The class will be "cast" according to the roles available. Roles: Jamie - male, age 20-40 Cate - female, age 20-40 Jessica - female, age 30-50 Ned - male, age 30-50 Tanya - female, age 40-70 Russ - male, age 20-30 Jeannie - female, age 20-30 Sammy - male, age 40-60 Ingrid - female, age 20-50 Brett - male, age 20-50 Aiden - male, age 20-30 Pauline - female, age 60-80 This course runs weekly on Sunday nights. Attendance is mandatory as your scene partners will be dependent on your commitment. with the exception of family emergencies, illness or booking a gig (our favorite reason for you to miss class!). Schedule: Sunday Nights 6-9pm Sept 17, Sept 24, Oct 1, Oct 8, Oct 15, Oct 22 (1 week break for Halloween Weekend) Nov 5, Nov 12 (2 week break for Thanksgiving) Dec 3. Dec 10 **NOTE: this class is not for beginner or intermediate actors. Only actors with significant years of training, on-stage or on-set experience will be considered to fill the roles. Registration & Payment: Upon registering, please send an email to info@greenlightactingstudios.com with a headshot, resume, demo reel or any other info you feel showcases your acting experience. We will accept actors and fill the roles based on the order in which you registered. If you have been approved to participate in the class, you will receive an email with a link to begin your payment plan. Payment for this class is taken in five installments of $90. These payments will be automatically withdrawn every two weeks.
