About the Event

Get immersed in a world of mystery, cover-ups and intrigue as you dig into the character of your choice from Rian Johnson's "Knives Out".

This interactive workshop is a table read, scene study, character exploration and directed session all in one!

How It Works:

  1. Choose the character you think you'd be best suited to play by purchasing the coordinating ticket. (Note: Some actors may play multiple roles)
  2. Receive your script one week prior to the workshop.
  3. Arrive and get this story on it's feet inside the studio working through the entire screenplay scene by scene under the direction of one of our coaches.

Skills You'll Gain:

  • Working with the page.
  • Following character arc.
  • Creating history and chemistry with your fellow actors in real time.
  • Taking direction.
  • Making discoveries and playing within scenes.

The circumstances surrounding the death of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey are mysterious, but there's one thing that renowned Detective Benoit Blanc knows for sure -- everyone in the wildly dysfunctional Thrombey family is a suspect. Now, Blanc must sift through a web of lies and red herrings to uncover the truth.

Benoit Blanc, famed private detective summoned to investigate the death of bestselling author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). Although police rule Harlan's case a suicide, Blanc suspects foul play and examines a host of clues and deceptive red herrings to ascertain his true manner of death

ROLES AVAILABLE: (all roles are open ethnicity and listed in no particular order)

  • Detective Benoit Blanc - Male, 35-55. A private investigator who is often heralded as "the world's greatest detective". Confident and gentlemanly with quiet swagger.
  • Detective Lieutenant Elliot - Male, age 30's. Assists Blanc in the investigation. Very good at his job and a model, unbiased professional.
  • Trooper Wagner - Male, age 30's. Assists Blanc in the investigation. Less experienced, a fan of Harlan's books and eager to please. (Actor will also play: Cop - Any age, any gender. Stationed at the crime scene & Jacob Thrombey - Male, age 15-18. The son of Walt and Donna Thrombey. He is characterized as an "alt-right troll dipshit" teenager by his cousin, Meg Thrombey. His uncle Richard Drysdale said of him "The boy is literally a Nazi".)
  • Harlan Thrombey - Male, age 85. A wealthy mystery fiction author and the patriarch of the Thrombey family, whose mysterious death sets the plot in motion. A tough patriarch and whip-smart. (Actor will also play: Alan Stevens - Male, ages 45-60. Harlan Thrombey's lawyer who comes to deliver the dead man's will & Mr Proofroc - Male, ages 55-75. Harlan Thrombey's long-time guard-house attendee.)
  • Linda Drysdale (neé Thrombey) - Female, age 55-65. The eldest child and only daughter of Harlan Thrombey. A no-nonsense alpha female.
  • Richard Drysdale - Male, age 55-65. The husband of Linda Drysdale, the father of Hugh "Ransom" Drysdale, the son-in-law of Harlan Thrombey. Intelligent but often emasculated by his wife.
  • Hugh Ransom Drysdale - Male, age 30's. The main antagonist of Knives Out. He is Richard and Linda's son, referred to as the Black Sheep of the family. Carries a lot of attitude.
  • Joni - Female, age 40+. A famous lifestyle guru and runs a failing skin care company called Flam. She was previously Harlan's daughter-in-law before she was widowed. New-age and just a bit flighty.
  • Megan "Meg" Thrombey - Female, age 18-22. The second youngest member of the Thrombey family. She is the only member of the family who treats Marta with any sort of friendship or compassion. Young feminist/activist with a tough exterior. (Actor will also play: Alice - Female, early 20's. Marta's sister)
  • Walter "Walt" Thrombey - Male, age 40's. Harlan Thrombey's youngest son and the CEO of Harlan's publishing company. Humble and unaccomplished, he is often a doormat to his father's strength.
  • Fran - Female, age 30-70. Harlan Thrombey's housekeeper. She discovers Harlan's body and plays a key role in revealing the antagonist. (Actor will also play: Donna Thrombey - married to Walt Thrombey and the mother of Jacob Thrombey. Wanetta "Great Nana" Thrombey - Female, age 100+. Harlan Thrombey's very, very old mother. Sally - Female, age 20-30. Alan's legal assistant. Mom - Female, age 50-60. Marta's mother)
  • Marta Cabrera - Female, late 20's. The protagonist and works as Harlan Thrombey's registered nurse, after his suicide, he chooses her to inherit his company and house. Kind, caring and unassuming, a hard worker. She has an odd reaction to lies that results in vomiting.
