About the Event
Jump into the complicated ups and downs of relationships as you dig into the character of your choice from Dan Fogelman's "Crazy, Stupid, Love".
This interactive workshop is a table read, scene study, character exploration and directed session all in one!
How It Works:
- Choose the character you think you'd be best suited to play by purchasing the coordinating ticket. (Note: Some actors may play multiple roles)
- Receive your script one week prior to the workshop.
- Arrive and get this story on it's feet inside the studio working through the entire screenplay scene by scene under the direction of one of our coaches.
Skills You'll Gain:

- Creating history and chemistry with your fellow actors in real time.
- Taking direction.
- Making discoveries and playing within scenes.

"Crazy, Stupid, Love" SYNOPSIS:
Cal Weaver is living the American dream. He has a good job, a beautiful house, great children and a beautiful wife, named Emily. Cal's seemingly perfect life unravels, however, when he learns that Emily has been unfaithful and wants a divorce. Over 40 and suddenly single, Cal is adrift in the fickle world of dating. Enter, Jacob Palmer, a self-styled player who takes Cal under his wing and teaches him how to be a hit with the ladies.
ROLES AVAILABLE: (all roles are open ethnicity and listed in no particular order)
SMALLER CAST:
CLAIRE: Bernie’s wife. Not a fan of Cal and forces Bernie to take Emily’s side in the divorce.
RICHARD: Hannah’s boyfriend. Rich, successful… and pretty bland.
BOSS: Cal’s boss. He’s worried about Cal, but is relieved to find out he’s getting divorced and isn’t dying.
- Cal Weaver - Male, 40’s. A middle-aged man blindsided by his wife's request for a divorce. Initially clueless about dating and relationships, he seeks help from Jacob to reinvent himself.
- Tracy Weaver - Female, 40's. Cal's wife, yearning for excitement after years in a comfortable but stagnant marriage. Her infidelity and subsequent divorce plans force both her and Cal to confront their desires.
- Jacob Palmer - Male, 30's. A charming and successful womanizer who hides a deeper emotional vulnerability. He mentors Cal in the art of seduction but finds himself drawn to Hannah, leading him to question his commitment to a casual lifestyle.
- Hannah - Female, 20's. A witty and independent law student who challenges Jacob's perception of women. As their connection deepens, she pushes him to be more genuine and emotionally available.
- Jessica - Female, 17. Babysitter for the Weaver family. She harbors a massive crush on Cal.
- Robbie Weaver - Male, 14. Cal and Tracy’s teenage son. A hopeless romantic, he pines after his neighbor/babysitter Jessica.
- David Jacobowitz - Male, 40's. Tracy's co-worker and the reason for the breakdown of her marriage. A stereotypical smug cheater who faces the consequences of his actions.
- Bernie Riley - Male, 40's. Cal's neighbor and former best friend. Bernie's wife dislikes Cal, creating tension between the two families.
- Liz - Female, 20's. Hannah’s best friend. She wants the best for Hannah, and is all to happy to tell her when she’s not doing something (or someone) she should be doing. (Actor will also play Tiffany).
- Kate - Female, 30s. a pretty woman who Cal successfully wins over with his honesty... and then never calls back. (Actor will also play Molly Weaver, Claire, and Madison).
- Richard - Male, 30's. Hannah’s boyfriend. Rich, successful… and pretty bland.(Actor will also play: Boss).
