About the Event
If you've ever seen yourself in Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Bridgerton, etc. Training in high text is a must!!
What is high text?
What we refer to as "elevated" or "high" text, is simply a reference the level of writing that began over 400 years ago with wordsmiths such as Shakespeare or Homer and continues today through writers like Aaron Sorkin.
Why is high text important?
Firstly, it is the pattern and style from which all of modern writing is derived. If you can analyze high text, you can analyze any script placed in front of you. Secondly, it is the true test of an actor, if you can act Shakespeare, you can act anything.
In this one day workshop, you'll just begin to scratch the surface of what it means to work material at this level.
We'll cover how this work translates to the modern actor and discover why so many of the best actors of today credit their roots in Shakespeare (think Meryl Streep, Andrew Scott, Kate Winslet, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Denzel Washington... the list goes on and on).
This workshop is recommended for Intermediate or Advanced actors.
Thursday, August 29th
6-10pm
This workshop is required for future participation in our "Prepraring a Master Actor" and "Making a Master Actor" courses.
